Most people associate Mt. Washington as stuffy (and outdated) restaurants with spectualar views and strolling along Grandview. That was too my Mt. Washington until recently moving there. Since then I have been bopping around more to see what else is going on on the Mount. Turns out there is more here than meets the eye. Grandview Park is definitely one of those pleasant surprises. Yes it has an overlook of the city and picnic tables/pavilions with green space; but more interesting are the trails.
The park has a growing number of hiking trails (map below) down the mountain that can link up to 19th St in the Southside. The heavily wooded paths make you feel like you are somewhere in the mountains until you see the city peaking through breaks. So next time you want to get out of the city and into the great outdoors, take the T to the incline, ride it up and walk over to Grandview Park.
